Practice uses ketamine to treat depression

Michigan Pain Consultants agrees to be part of FDA trial to develop oral version of drug.

According to Dr. Mark Gostine, co-founder of Michigan Pain Consultants, chronic pain and depression go hand in hand, which is why 40 to 50 percent of his practice’s patients are on anti-depressants. Michigan Pain Consultants provides intravenous Ketamine treatments for depression, and recently signed on to be part of an FDA trial for an oral ketamine drug developed by Naurex, who was recently purchased by Allegan Pharmaceutical.

Breaking the Pain Chain is a four-part interactive educational series designed to teach about the tools and techniques for breaking the cycle of pain caused by arthritis. The series includes four, one-hour sessions.
