Meningitis Outbreak

As of October 4, 2012, both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have advised that “ all health care personnel cease using any product made by New England Compounding Center" due to a nationwide outbreak of fungal meningitis. The Framingham, Massachusetts-based compounding pharmacy voluntarily shut down operations the same day, and an active investigation is underway by both the CDC and FDA.

Michigan Pain Consultants wants to reassure you, that we have always received our steroid medication from Upjohn which is a division of Pfizer based out of Kalamazoo. We pay a premium for the Upjohn medication because it is the highest-quality product available and is in keeping with our primary objective to provide exceptional care to our patients.

As an international organization, pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer are subject to the highest levels of FDA oversight. In our 28 years practicing in west Michigan, there has never been a case of infection attributed to a procedure conducted in our office containing medications received from Pfizer or any other organization subject to FDA oversight.

Ensuring the safety of our patients and delivering the highest quality pain care in the region is what has guided our practice for nearly three decades.

Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns.
